The Cool Drop: Things Money Can't Buy
From Bella Freud to Phoebe Waller-Bridge — proof that the best things in life are, in fact, free.
Following last week’s post highlighting our world of overconsumption, it only felt right that this week’s Drop didn’t encourage a single purchase. Instead, here are a few things that have brought me joy, inspiration, or both, for free.
Fashion Neurosis Podcast — I first discovered this via an interview with designer, JW Anderson, and was struck by the depth and intimacy of the conversation. Host Bella Freud, London-based designer and great-granddaughter of Sigmund Freud, invites guests to lie on her living-room couch and unpack the emotional meanings behind what they wear. With an A-list roster including Kate Moss, Julianne Moore, and Honey Dijon, these fly-on-the-wall conversations showcase fashion through the lens of love, anxiety, culture, and often, healing. Definitely worth a listen.
Ahn Trần — Born in Vietnam, now based in Berlin, Trần’s large-format paintings merge expressive abstraction with autobiography. Her work feels visceral, not just visual—with titles like Searching the Sky for Dreams that echo a longing for connection to something greater. To me, art is fascinating not because it can be explained, but because its impact often can’t be. Trần’s work is worth experiencing on those terms.

Fleabag — First released in 2016 (we’re behind), this 3x Golden Globe winner is sharp, hilarious, and achingly human. Written, created by, and starring incomparable Phoebe Waller-Bridge, it brings equal parts joy and introspection. Despite its massive success, she ended the series after two seasons, feeling that the story was complete. She later went on to create the equally popular series, Killing Eve. Moral of the story: we love Phoebe, and if you haven’t watched (or rewatched) Fleabag, add it to your list.
YSL’s Fall Campaign — Starring Kate Moss. Just go watch.
Perhaps this week you’re inspired to create something—art in whatever form feels exciting to you. Because this week, we’re having fun for free.
Thanks for being here and can’t wait to see you soon.
Until next time,
Kelly
