The Cool Drop: In Good Health
From hormone balance to mindful movement — founders and brands helping us live better, feel calmer, and glow from the inside out.
The only pairing I love more than art and design is health and wellness—because how can we truly savor the beauty of the world if we’re experiencing it through a mental or physical fog? While I’ll never beg you to read every Cool Drop, this one deserves your full, life-improving attention.
Lola
In 2018, I learned that most drugstore tampons expose us to unnecessary chemicals — including residual pesticides and chlorine dioxide, an environmental pollutant and hormone disruptor. We’re already surrounded by enough toxins in daily life, so I try to reduce exposure wherever I can. That’s when Lola’s 100% organic tampons came into my life. Every month since, my delivery arrives smoothly, discreetly, and safely.
Founded in 2015 by Jordana Kier and Alexandra Friedman, Lola was born from a lack of transparency in feminine care. What began with a single product has evolved into a full collection centered on keeping women safe, informed, and empowered.
Open
I’ve talked about Open founders Raed Khawaja and Manoj Dias before, and I’ll talk about them again. Their Venice space cultivates a palpable energy of calm and community, but what I’ve leaned on most is their app. As someone who once struggled with anxiety, daily meditation has been my saving grace—reshaping how I think, act, and relate to others. I’ve tried every app imaginable, but Open feels different. With guided talks, breathwork, movement, and meditation, you can choose what your nervous system needs that day. Start with the 21-Day Nervous System Reset — it’s grounding in the most expansive way. (Use this link for 30 days free.)
Methodology
CEO & Co-Founder Julie Nguyen launched Methodology out of the all-too-familiar exhaustion of weekend meal prep. She teamed up with her friend Steven Liu, who had a background in fine dining, to create a meal-delivery experience that’s healthier than your own prep and as satisfying as your favorite restaurant. Eating can be genuinely stressful if you’re striving to live a well-balanced life, but Methodology makes it easy, and dare I say, chic.
MyFlo
My second favorite female-health founder, Alisa Vitti, was my first true introduction to hormone cycles. It pains me to admit how late in life I found this education—but that’s a societal problem I hope we continue to solve. I’ve recommended her app to many friends (probably a few reading this right now), and it’s sparked real conversations around hormonal health and cycle syncing. MyFlo not only tracks your cycle but also offers recommendations across diet, movement, focus, and even sex. If you’re not already a user, I recommend the free download.
Hey Homebody
Founded by Rebecca Grammer-Ybarra, single mother of two, artisan baker, and accomplished pastry chef. She’s a two-time Food Network champion and the first Black woman (alongside her sister Christiana) to win a televised dessert competition show. After facing rock bottom—a closed business, a broken engagement, and a traumatic car accident—she was forced to embrace the meaning of self-care. From that, Hey Homebody was born: a modern alternative rooted in bathing rituals and handcrafted tonics designed to soothe both body and spirit. Made in California, the brand now exists in 1,500 stores including Ulta and Revolve.
I hope you find something—or all of these (girls-only, sorry boys)—that helps you feel healthier and happier. And relish in the joy of knowing the founders you’ll be supporting in the process.
As always, if there are any health + wellness entrepreneurs you are inspired by and feel deserve a spotlight, drop them in the comments so we can build this community together.
