The Cool Drop: Objects of Interest
A collection of pieces too good to look away.
I am in absolute awe of the pieces and founders I stumbled upon this week. Proof of the good a much-needed break can provide. From handmade, one-of-a-kind designs to art that soothes and jewelry that transports you back to nature, this drop surprised even me.
Tigra Tigra
I somehow discovered Bailey Hunter’s Tigra Tigra and felt instantly blessed. Each piece centers on textile preservation and is entirely handmade in collaboration with partners and artists across India. You truly have to experience the brand to understand the depth of my fascination. And if you happen to be in Los Angeles on December 20th, they will be hosting a Holiday Bazaar alongside Hollywood Books. The best of all worlds.
Viktoria Chan
It is no secret that I am a sucker for a timeless label. Pieces meant to be collected, handed down, and kept for a lifetime. Swedish designer Viktoria Chan has perfected this balance. Her day-to-evening silhouettes are equal parts feminine and sophisticated, crafted from materials that belong in our closets and none of those that do not. Begging for one of everything.
Incarnem
We, as a collective society, love a good pop-up. And Incarnem’s founder, Marine Billet, will be hosting one in Paris at Palais Royal through December 23rd. Her background includes collaborations with Schiaparelli and pieces worn by Bella Hadid. Some designs are meant to sit like a second skin, while others leave you dripping in vermeil. Entirely distinctive and undeniably powerful.
Jennifer Mifi Laflamme
I am torn between where to begin, her art or her clothing. I discovered her artwork first. Rich, layered textures that feel like an inviting dream wrapped in clouds. Her handmade garments echo that same softness, translated into wearable form. Silk and appliqué come together through plant-dyed pigment, resulting in pieces that feel both ethereal and grounded.
Sagu Ceramics
This drop was not intended to lean so heavily handmade, yet here we are. Sagu’s ceramic jewelry continues the theme. Natural materials, organic shapes, and sculptural beauty, as the brand itself describes. I was first drawn to their ceramic nautilus shell earrings and later found this pendant in ivorystone. It feels as though they have found a way to make the ocean wearable.
Discoveries like these, created by founders who genuinely light me up, are what commerce is meant to be about. The exchange of something you value for something you truly appreciate.
These creatives work through inspiration, and inspiration is something we could all use more of in our daily lives. Let this drop be both something shoppable and something to pause with. A reminder to notice the beauty people are still choosing to put into the world, even when it feels like the opposite is everywhere.
Until next time,
Kelly
